Local is not the same
as "we don't keep it".
Every other dictation tool sends your voice to a server. The good ones promise not to keep it, and publish a certificate saying so. That promise is only as good as the company behind it, and it is a promise you cannot check.
Fohun does the transcription on your Mac. There is no server to trust, no retention policy to read, and nothing to breach. Pull out your network cable and it still works — which is a claim you can test in about four seconds.
One exception, stated plainly. AI Transforms rewrite something you already dictated. That text goes to our server and on to Anthropic, and comes back rewritten. It runs only when you pick an AI transform by hand, only on a paid plan, and we do not keep it. Everything else — transcription, your history, your recordings — never leaves the machine.

Hold a key while you talk, or double-tap and let it work out when you have finished. Each gesture has its own key, so neither collides with what you already use.
It learns your words
Names, products, jargon. Adding them cut errors on proper nouns by more than half in our own measurements — the single biggest accuracy win available.
Snippets
Say "my work email" and get the address. Anything tedious to dictate accurately becomes a phrase.
Transforms
Turn what you said into bullets, strip the filler, fix the casing. Those run on your Mac instantly. AI rewrites are there too, clearly marked, on a paid plan.
Nothing is lost
Every dictation is searchable, with the recording beside it — so you can settle whether it misheard you or you mumbled.

English only
The local models we ship are English. Tools that offer a hundred languages do it by sending audio to a server, which is the thing we will not do.
Apple Silicon only
M1 or newer. Transcription uses the GPU and Neural Engine; there is no Intel build and there will not be a fast one.
Windows is a preview
It dictates, hold-to-talk, and that is all so far — no hands-free, and it cannot yet detect password fields. No iPhone or Android.
